EOT claims in Egypt

Large projects in Egypt usually run on FIDIC forms, most often the 1987 and 1999 Red and Yellow Books, with the Silver Book for EPC and turnkey work. Contracts with public entities fall under Law No. 182 of 2018, which limits how far FIDIC terms can apply. Mandatory rules of the Egyptian Civil Code override contract terms that conflict with them, and the Code says little about claims procedure or extensions of time, so the contract’s own notice and claim clauses carry most of the weight. Egyptian courts have refused claims that were not first submitted to the Engineer as the contract required. We check the contract and its notice route first, then prepare the notice, delay analysis and claim.
